Child Sponsorship
Ross Srey Meng, 4, goes to a non-formal school in the village of Om Rum Check in the Prekchik commune of Battambang province, north west Cambodia. This is a story of how the people of one village joined together to ensure that their children received the education that they want, need and is their right.
After years without a school, and then suffering from unprofessional and absent teachers, with the help of a local facilitator the villagers lobbied higher and higher authorities until their demands were heard and met. What’s more they laid down some of their own rules, and kept a close watch on the performance of teachers, to make sure that the problem did not emerge again. Something that anyone would do to make sure their child is properly educated, if they have the confidence and skills..

Child Sponsorship
Child sponsorship is a wonderful way to bring hope to a child living in poverty. For just over a dollar a day, your sponsorship will change the future for a child and their community. Through ActionAid Australia your sponsorship will provide them with an education, help their whole community access safe clean water, nourishing food and, most importantly, the opportunity to rise above poverty.
ActionAid Child Sponsorship changes lives.
ActionAid Child Sponsorship changes lives. ActionAid works with communities to access their basic human rights, so lasting change can be made. If basic human rights are met it’s more likely a child can remain in school and further their education, instead of having to leave to tend fields or care for younger siblings.
